You know that the carpets in your kitchen and the living room can get any kind of stains. You need to be prepared to clean different food and beverage based stains. Especially when you have kids, the food never stays only in the plates. Today we have prepared for you some tips to help you remove the yellow mustard stains from your carpets.
If the mustard stain is still fresh, use some paper towels to dab the area and remove the excess quantities of the mustard. Try to remove as much as possible before starting the cleaning process. If the mustard is already dry use a spoon or a butter knife to scrape as much of it off the carpet's fibers.
To create the cleaning solution mix together 2 tablespoons mild dish detergent, 2 tablespoons white vinegar and some warm water in a bowl. Get a clean piece of cloth or a sponge and dip them into the cleaning mixture. Pour the rest of the cleaning solution carefully into a spray bottle.
Start spraying the stained area of the carpet with the spray bottle until a rich foam forms on the surface of the carpet. Use the clean piece of cloth and carefully rub the area. Move gently from the edges of the stain and slowly move to the center of the sprayed area. Repeat the process several times until the mustard stain is no longer seen.
Use a clean dry cloth to blot the area and absorb the moisture from the carpet. Get a bowl with clean warm water and rinse the stained area. Use a clean piece of cloth to dip it in the water and gently rub the stain. Rinse the cloth several times until the soapy solution is completely cleaned off the carpet.
When you are have thoroughly rinsed the carpet area blot the spot to absorb the moisture and place a clean dry cloth on the spot. Place a heavy book on top of it so that the remaining moisture could be easily absorbed by the cloth. After a few hours remove the book and the cloth and leave the area to air dry. Avoid going through the treated spot until it is completely dry.
When the treated area of the carpet is entirely dry, vacuum the whole carpet to restore the fibers.
