Mayonnaise Treatment

If you are considering a mayonnaise treatment for your child, it is best that you inform him/her of the treatment process. It is fairly simple but can be very icky and uncomfortable. You need to lather your child's hair with a generous amount of thick mayonnaise. Make sure that you do not miss a dry spot else the lice will seek refuge on that uncontaminated portion. Correctly treating a head lice infestation is two fold. You will need to destroy the live adult, but you must also make sure you remove the eggs that they leave behind. The eggs (or 'nits') are whitish in colour, about the size of a pinhead and they glue themselves firmly to the hair shaft making them quite difficult to shift. Trying to comb them out with a normal comb is virtually useless! Because mayonnaise is viscous, thick, and greasy, it makes a good smothering agent, just like petroleum jelly and olive oil. It is applied and spread liberally on the hair, covering every strand along with the head lice that are roaming around the scalp. Then, a plastic shower cap, plastic wrap, or plastic bag is used to hold the mayonnaise in place. Head lice treatment comes when you get those awful bugs on your scalp we were all scared of as kids. Kids are more likely to get this particular problem and it can spread very easily from kid to kid. There was always one kid who had it when I was in school when they would check fro head lice, I never was one of them thankfully. My little brother got head lice when he was a kid and my mom had to use mayonnaise on his head. With many parents starting to become aware of the potential toxic health risks of using the usual chemical based lice shampoos, home remedies are fast becoming the 'safer - turn to' alternative. The use of vinegar and various oils come highly recommended by lots of parents that have tried them. And one more recipe to remove head lice. Take a quantum satis of mayonnaise to cover each small piece of your head and hair and apply it. Wrap your hair with plastic bag or shower cap and leave it for 2 - 3 hours. This time is enough to get rid of lice. After that shampoo your head and thoroughly brush it with a nit comb. Head lice removal is serious business as these small but hardy insects can multiply quickly and live for as long as one month on a human head. The ineffectiveness of commercial head lice treatments is becoming a concern to more and more people as it is seen how these little pests are developing an immunity against the pesticides & chemicals in these medicines. However, there are, fortunately, natural alternatives to try such as head lice removal using ordinary sandwich spread. One of the most popular ways to use this hair treatment is as a conditioner. It is always important to do this on clean hair and scalp, so do this after shampooing your hair. Apply as you would any conditioner, making sure to gently massage into your hair from root all the way to the ends. Hint: add a little extra to your ends as it will aid in stopping splits dead in their tracks. Live lice that have fallen from their victims head through scratching or combing can still find their way back to another host if contact is made. To prevent this all that is needed is common household cleaning tools and products. The use of large scale treatment such as pesticides is not necessary or advised. Oil treatments were to be the weapon of choice this time. I had done my research and short listed Olive and tea tree oils, petroleum jelly and mayonnaise. I was going to smother my daughter with sticky gooey stuff and comb the lice and nits out. Sounds easy. The next natural hair growth treatment is a common one. It is made by using mayonnaise. Mayonnaise as a natural hair growth treatment works but it is messy and smelly. The trick to using this is to apply it in your mane for an hour. When done, simply rinse it off with an apple ciders rinse.
